history
08.09.1942 - Established at West Malling as a night fighter unit (according to other sources it was established as early as 2 Sep 1942), it was armed with modified Havoc and Boston "Turbinlite" machines, equipped with radar and searchlight to track and illuminate enemy targets to be attacked by Hurricane fighters, which were also in the squadron's armament. Due to the ineffectiveness and gradual inclusion of powerful night fighters, this tactic was abandoned.
