history
The squadron was formed on 1 April 1944 at Little Staughton as a heavy bomber unit and until the end of the war carried out mainly night raids on targets in Germany and occupied Europe, its main task being to mark targets for other bomber formations. During the war it conducted 165 operations (2157 sorties) and lost 28 aircraft. With the end of the war it ceased to exist on 10.9.1945.
