Brief history

After the experience of fighting in north Africa, where light machines Auster very successfully managed radio artillery fire, it was in 1944, decided on the formation of units to support the Polish forces in Italy.
The unit was formed on 8. September on the basis of the command headquarters 2. the Polish corps (2 Korpus Polski ). The flying staff consisted of officers of artillery, who went through pilot training in South Africa, the Uk and Italy. Still wore khaki uniforms complemented by a pilot badge with two muzzles.
Immediately began operational training under the command of experienced british commander major W. E. Wright. The first operational flight took the pilots of 8. 1. 1945. Initially worked with 5. british corps (In the Corps) and also with severoitalskými partisans. 13. 2. was subordinated to the 2. the Polish choir. Individual squadrons and individual machines have been designed for individual batteries. By the end of march took the unit a total of 272 combat flights in the length of 515 hours.
In April, the pilots successfully helped in the last offensive, in which the Polish land forces advanced in the direction of Bologna. Completed 258 flights in a length of 505 hours, lost 1 pilot.
The last combat flights took 25. April. Squadron then continue to was subordinated to the 2. the Polish choir and taking connecting flights. At the beginning of October 1946 moved to Britain, where it was 29. October 1946 disbanded
Combat results were counted against the Polish army and do not feature in the statistics of the air force.

1. July 1949 was restored (but no longer as a purely british) at the base of the Hooton Park again as a unit designed to control artillery fire, the coupling and communication flights within the Royal auxiliary air force (Royal Auxiliary Air Force) and in this role she served until its dissolution 10. march 1957 (along with all the other pinions RAuxAF).
