Northrop F-5E Tiger II
F-5E Tiger II (serial number 73-0878, serial number R1059), Military Aviation Museum, Prague-Kbely, May 2011. The aircraft served with the South Vietnamese Air Force at the end of the Vietnam War at Bien Hoa as part of the 63rd Tactical Wing, which at the time had two units armed with this type - 542nd and 544th Fighter Squadron. The Kbel Tiger was seized by the North Vietnamese Army in April 1975 during its offensive that marked the end of South Vietnam. The Tiger's markings were subsequently repainted and the aircraft received the insignia of the (North) Vietnamese Air Force. In 1981, it was transported (along with ground equipment and two AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles) to Czechoslovakia, where it was analyzed by Czechoslovak aviation specialists. Since 1983 it has been part of the collections of the Kbely Aviation Museum in a largely incomplete state.
