Notes: Note: | 1)According to the mobilization tables, it was named Dywizjon Pancerny nr 81. However, in the entire Polish historiography it is referred to as 81 Dywizjon Pancerny and therefore I list it as such. 2) After arriving in Lutsk, on the orders of the commander of the Replacement Armour Centre No. 1, the coroulette was disbanded. From the remnants of the weather vane and the resources of the Replacement Centre were formed: (a) Lieutenant Chachaj's armored platoon (2 armored cars wz. 34-II, 1 tank TKS with a 20 mm FK-A wz. 38 gun, several motorcycles and cars), which was assigned to the Gliński Motorized Reconnaissance Unit. (b) A motorized unit under the command of the weather vane commander (about 120 people, 16 trucks, several cars and SUVs), which was to wait for further orders in the village of Strusów. 17.09.1939 most of them were taken into Soviet captivity. However, a few managed to escape to Hungary. Although The "Chersk" cover group[/url] was formally disbanded on 05.09.1939, the korouhev continued to perform the tasks of its commander the following day. 4) On 06.09.1939, due to the considerable technical wear and tear (non-combatability) of the combat vehicles, the commander of the convoy received an order from the commander of the former Cover Group "Chersk" to move independently to the Replacement Armoured Weapons Centre. He 5) escaped Soviet capture and made his way to the UK via Hungary and France. There, he served in the Polish Army in Exile (including as Commander of the Armoured Weapons Command of the Commander-in-Chief's Staff). During the war he was promoted to the ranks of lieutenant colonel and colonel. During the war in September 1939 he was awarded the Cross of Valour(second award). | |
