Burgstall

This is a celtic oppidum located in Finsterlohre, southeast of Würzburg, Germany. His area of 123,5 acres, is lichoběžníkovitého shape, taking the place of where it was built is a protected nature. It extends in height from 120 to 145 m above the valley of the river Tauber. In the years 1903 to 1904, it was examined F. Hertleinem, 1929 To. Bittelem. The west side is nature not for protection, and therefore, there is a fortification consisting of two transverse walls, while the interior continues throughout the north and south perimeter of the celtic settlement. In the vale having a width of 10 m was detected wall type Preist, therefore, the stones placed on the drought and reinforced wooden beams, and a weighed portion in the form of ramps. Fixative gate has been detected in the northwest corner. It is built of large blocks of rubble stone. On the inner side of the was root beer building, which guarded the entrance to the celtic settlement by the passage of a wide 3,25 to 3,50 m. the Gate was destroyed by fire, in it and in the middle of the settlement area, was found the material a typical for the end of the la tene period. Maybe it was the oppidum Helvétů, however its merger with Locoritonom or Devonou is unconvincing.
