Speciálním řádem, který si vyžádala jednak doba, ale hlavně i poloha Francie a její obchodní loďstvo je:
Řád Za námořní zásluhy, řád byl založen 9.února roku 1930 a byl rozčleněn opět do tří stupňů nebo tříd. Účelem řádu bylo ocenit odborné,profesionální znalosti námořníků, jejich statečnosti zásluh,ale řád byl určen i za občanské zásluhy při rozvoji a budování obchodního i rybářského loďstva, ale i zajišťování sportovní plavby. Je docela s podiven, že země, která měla své zámořské území a kolonie po celém světě, zakládá tento specializovaný řád poměrně pozdě.
Řád se dělí na :
Komandéry nošení na náhrdelní stuze
Důstojník, zlacené stříbro, náprsní stuha s rozetou
Rytíř na prosté splývavé stuze a je stříbrný
