Ordnance Maintenance Truck, 2½-Ton, 6×6 (GMC CCKW-353 ST-6) - an all-metal, closed box body on a GMC CCKW-353 truck chassis designed for mobile repair shops of various types. For access to the superstructure, there is a large, two-piece door in the rear of the superstructure with steps. There are 6 large windows on either side of the body, one smaller window in the front above the cab and two smaller windows in the rear door. All windows can be blacked out and are protected from damage by a thick metal mesh. The side windows are openable. The superstructure is equipped with electric lighting, ventilation and heating and is usable in all climatic conditions. When the door is opened, the lighting is switched off automatically. A distinctive feature of the body is the possibility of lowering it by approx. 61 cm (24in) by removing the window panels for transporting the vehicle, e.g. in confined spaces of vessels. The superstructure was in production from 1942 and replaced the older (visually similar) ST-5 superstructure.


The unassembled superstructure itself is 3759 mm (145in) long, 2438 mm (96in) wide and 2073.3 mm (81.625in) high. The internal fittings of the superstructure depend on its intended use, with the fittings arranged (and adapted) so as not to hinder the lowering of the superstructure.

In 1944 "got" one of the companies (Perley Thomas, High Point, North Carolina) manufacturing cabinet ST-6 special army order: Deliver equipped the interior of the cabinet for general George Smith Patton (jn), commander of the 3. army.
The headquarters of the 3. The army at the front in Europe was used (outside the range of means of transport) also cars GMC CCKW-353 ST-6.
