Austrian engineers created their top wheel-belt construction in the years 1940-42. They wanted to create a fast reconnaissance tank that would be able to fight even lightly armored enemy technology. Their success was inspired by Sd.Kfz.254. The first prototype without a tower was completed in 6/1940. The second prototype was completed in 8/1941. The prototypes were then tested. They underwent winter testing in Austria (St.Johan?) And subsequently the prototype was moved to hot Greece (Lamia) for tests for potential battlefields in North Africa. In 8-9/1941 he drove the prototype Fgst.Nr.9004 on roads 788 km (on wheels) and 47 km in the field (on belts). Due to the high temperatures reached in the combat area, the type was not suitable for tropical environments. A report dated July 1, 1942 states that Saurer-Werke from Vienna delivered one platform without a tower and one complete machine with a tower designed and manufactured by .=/topic/view/107236] Daimler-Benz.

The original order for the 0th series of 15 tanks counted with the first vehicle delivered on May 31, 1942, but the order was probably not fulfilled and the type was not accepted into German armament. Certainly this type does not appear in the reports on serial production of armored vehicles.
Additional information was provided by Hilary Louise Doyle in the Facebook discussion below. According to the author, the Hubertushütte company was to produce a total of 12 tubs for this vehicle in the period 9-12/1942. In the period 9-10/1942, five towers and armored hulls were produced. Whether the final assembly and completion of some other tanks has taken place is questionable.

A recently published photo was obtained by Akira Takiguchi. He found an originally unpublished caption on the back.

Original text:
On our first trial with the new tank model ZT 15 from Munich to Graz. Vienna 9/16/1941
Translation:
On our first test drive with the new ZT 15 tank model from Munich to Graz. Vienna 16.9.1941 "

This vehicle is identical to the vehicle of this topic, why the designation ZT 15 is questionable. It is possible that this is a factory designation. The vehicle in the photo is also interesting in terms of the use of the license plate, which belonged to the Luftwaffe and was supposed to be a registration plate for test vehicles.
