SS-Polizei Regiment 20 was formed in July 1942 in Prague from a unit of Polizei Regiment Böhmen. I/SS-Polizei Regiment 20 was transferred out of the unit's subordination in April 1943 and was replaced by Polizei Ausbildung Bataillon Klagenfurt.
I/SS-Polizei Regiment 20 was stationed in Italy, II/SS-Polizei Regiment 20 first in the Protectorate of Böhmen-Mähren and later in Hungary, and III/SS-Polizei Regiment 20 was stationed in Prague.
