In the years 1914-17. Alexander Alexandrovich Porochovščikov (Александр Александрович Пороховщиков), several times offered to the military authorities of the project of the school aircraft, mainly corresponding to the scheme used in aircraft Farman. In February 1917 it was at his factory, where was produced the only aircraft according to foreign patterns, created a training aircraft of its own design. The peculiarity of the machines, designated P-IV, was the simplicity of its assembly, dismantling and management, the possibility of disconnection of the second management, and also installation of various rotary engine with a power output of 50, 60, 70 and 80 to the.with. The Gondola crew with the location of the pupil and the instructor next to each other, was ejected forward, for the crew was placed the engine with a pusher propeller.

After the end of the tests in may 1917, was a P-IV, thanks to the successful combination of high stability and simplicity of management, found a suitable training aircraft and was recommended for mass production. The plane was manufactured in various modifications until the year 1923. a total of were produced undetectable amounts of these machines, which served for the training of pilots.

In February 1920 Porochovščikov built a mock P-IV bis, differing mounting the motor Rhône 80 to.with. with the pulling propeller and the sitting of the pupil and the instructor next to each other.

With the use of the same schema designer built machines P-IV 2 bis, P-VI, P-VI bis, which was produced in small quantities and were used for training pilots until the mid-twenties.

It was a two-seater třívzpěrový biplane with truss fuselage of mixed construction. Gondola with push or pull propellers had all-wood construction. The cover of the engine (towing) was produced from aluminum sheet. Double-girder wing of the wooden structure was covered with canvas. Ailerons were only on the upper wing. Beams příhrad, the strut of the wing and the trusses were made of steel tubes. The strut should have a wooden fairings.

The horizontal tail surfaces were běžněho type. Vertical tail surfaces have a small keel above the stabilizer. Chassis farmanovského type of two double wheels on the short axis, mounted on the tubular legs L-shaped. In the winter they used skis.

Montovaly different sedmiválcové engines, air-cooled, rotary Gnôme or the Rhône (from 50 to 80 to.with.). Control cable from the control levers and pedals, double.

Modification
P-IV - nacelle with pusher propeller. Seat student in front, instructor - rear. Serial. Were assembled engines Gnôme Rhône, sometimes Clerget.
P-IVbis - had the same scheme. Gondola with pulling propellers, the seat of the pupil and the instructor next to each other. A small series of February 1920.
P-IV-2bis - unfolding of P-IV-bis, but the seats were placed one behind the other. Propeller traction. This small series.
P-VI - same design, but the chassis with a continuous axis. The engines of the Rhone (80 or 110 k. s) or Anzani (120 to. p. s.). The seat in the cab placed next to each other. Centroplán without the cover. Flight performance is very bad.
P-VIbis - consistent with the P-VI, but centroplán was also already coated with. A series of about 40 machines.

The aircraft was used until 1923..
