vševojsková military unit composed of several rot or other units of the same or of different types of troops or special troops, equipped with the same or a different technique. The banner is in the organization of all types of troops and special troops of the ground troops.
According to the type of troops and specification are distinguished battalions motostřelecké, tank, sapper, coupling, radio and the like.
The battalion can be organized in the framework of the regiment or may be separate. Separate battalion are among the departments. Unit in the strength of the battalion at the missile troops, artillery and army air defence is called a section; as a rule, consists of several batteries, and separate platoons.
