Dornier Do L Delphin

Přehled verzí
In 1920, Dornier introduced the Dornier Cs II commercial all-metal seaplane. The pilot was placed directly behind the engine in an open cabin, while the passengers were placed in a closed cabin with large windows, as seen in the photo. The first two versions had a capacity for five passengers. The first transport flight took place on November 24, 1920 in Switzerland. The first versions of the Do L I were produced 4 pieces, 1 piece for the US Navy to test its all-metal construction, another piece for Kawasaki in Japan due to a production license.
In 1924, Dornier introduced an improved version of the Do L II with a more powerful engine and a closed cockpit. The first transport flight of the second version took place on 15 February 1924. One aircraft was delivered by the British Air Ministry and two by Deutsche Aero Lloyd for comfortable travel across Lake Constance. Later Deutsche Aero Lloyd tested one piece to night flights between Statin and Copenhagen.
In 1928, Dornier introduced the latest version of the Do L III, equipped first with four hundred and then six hundred horsepower, and space for ten passengers. However, it was again no commercial success and so only three aircraft were built in Altenrhein, Switzerland, used in Aero Lloyd for flying over Lake Constance.
