The Project 06363 class of fighter attack submarines was developed by the Rubin design bureau as a modernization of the Project 877 and Project 636 classes (NATO code: Kilo). The first 6 submarines of this class (B-261 Novorossiysk, B-237 Rostov-on-Don, B-262 Stary Oskol, B-265 Krasnodar, B-268 Velikiy Novgorod, B-271 Kolpino)began construction in 2010-2011 for the needs of the Black Sea Fleet and entered service in 2014-2016. The second series of 6 submarines (B-274 Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, B-603 Volchov, B-602 Magadan, B-588 Ufa, B-??? Mozhaisk, B-???? Yakutsk) for the needs of the Pacific Fleet began construction in 2017-2021.
