The 55Ž6 / 55Ж6 is a 3D radar designed to detect and track airborne targets. It is characterized by high quality anti-jamming protection and high efficiency. It operates in the meter band. The station has a long range of up to 600 km (for a target flying at an altitude of 75,000 m), for targets with a flight altitude of up to 40,000 m it has a detection range of about 360 km. The station is mobile, carried in a total of 7 trailers.
Versions:
55Ž6 Nebo / 55Ж6 "Nebo" - basic version developed in 1982-1987, inducted into the arsenal in 1986. Long-range range for fighter aircraft of 4 generations at an altitude of 20 km - up to 400 km, at an altitude of 500 m - up to 65 km.
55Ž6U Nebo-U / 55Ж6У "Nebo-У" (for export: 55Ž6UE Nebo-UE / 55Ж6УЕ "Nebo-УЕ") - modernized version developed in 1986-1992, introduced into the arsenal in 1995. Production was provided by the Nizhny Novgorod TV plant. It is known that in May 2016 one radar was delivered to the radio troops of the Western Military District, and in summer 2017 another set was received by the 14th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces Central Military District.
55Ž6UM Nebo-UM / 55Ж6УМ "Nebo-УМ" - station upgrade implemented in 2011 and inducted into the armament in 2017. The radar is capable of detecting aerodynamic and ballistic targets at altitudes up to 80 km at a range of 600 km.
55Ž6T Nebo-T / 55Ж6T"Nebo-T - another upgrade of the Nebo-U station inducted into the arsenal in 2020. The upgrade was aimed at increasing the speed and accuracy of target detection. In January 2022, the first stations were put into service in the Volga and Ural regions.
55Ž6M Nebo-M/55Ж6М "Nebo-M" (for export: <55Ž6ME Nebo-ME / 55Ж6МЕ "Nebo-ME") - a newly developed radar complex combining radars operating in the centimeter, decimeter and meptrometer bands. For the centimeter band, it uses a modified 64L6 Gamma-S1 (64L6"Gamma-S1") radar, Decimetre-band modified radar 59N6 Protivnik-G (59H6"Protivnik-G") and for the meter-band modifification of the radar 1L119 Nebo-SVU (1L119 "Nebo-SVU"). The first radiolocators were added to the armament in 2012, and in 2017 the set was also added to the units of the 14th Army Air and Air Defence Forces Central Military District.
1L13 Nebo-SV/ 1L13 "Nebo-SV" - a 2D mobile version of the 55Ž6 Nebo station designed for the Ground Forces. The radar allows detection of conventional fighter aircraft at ranges from min 60 km (for aircraft at 500 m) to 350 km (at 27 km). A conventional radar altimeter could be attached to the station for target altitude detection.
1L119 Nebo-SVU - 3D modernization of station 1L13 Nebo-SV. Slightly increased detection range (min. 65 km for targets at 500 m altitude, up to 380 km for targets at 20 km altitude). Deployment time from march to combat position within 30 minutes. The station has also been exported to Iran.
