The regiment was formed on 1 April 1935 by renaming from Group of the Provincial Police "General Göring".

Lieutenant Colonel of Police Friedrich Wilhelm Jakoby

On 1 October 1935, the regiment was transferred from the subordination of the Land Police to the subordination of the Luftwaffe.
