SC 500 J is a 500 kg calibre bomb. It has two fuse cases (AZ-25B, AZ-25C, AZ-38, or AZ-55) and is designed against fixed airport structures, concourses, station structures, overpasses and underpasses, fixed stone bridges, tall buildings, and underground structures. It is also usable against surface targets on a limited basis (with the head ring deployed). It has a one-piece body made of pressed steel. The bomb body is painted in matt beige-grey (RAL 7027), with yellow stripes on the conical part of the stabiliser. On the body there is a black inscription "C 500 J". at the smallest impact angle of 60° it pierces the armour plate with a thickness of 40 mm.
