SOV - R-809 (letecká přenosná VKV radiostanice )

Aвиационная переносная УКВ радиостанция P-809
Portable radios R-809, R-809M and R-809M2

The different versions differ in frequency spacing and channel or frequency selection.

It was used as a backup radio for phonic communication with aircraft over short distances.
- Frequency band 100 - 150 MHz.

R-809:

The frequency band can be operated on 601 frequencies (channels). 2 channels can be pre-tuned and switched during operation. It uses 2 crystals for transmitter "A" and 2 for receiver "B". These are identical, as are the tuning elements and mechanics as in the rdst R-800.
- Antennas: disc or rod
- Power 0,5 W
- Transmission power 12 W
- Power supply:
(a) from block P1: via an inverter, 2 batteries 2 NKN-24, recharged by a "foot" dynamo
b) from block P2: dry anode batteries and 2 batteries 2 NKN-24

- The set is transported in two boxes: radio and dynamo. Weight of the set 120 kg

R-809M2 (P-809M2)

Portable VHF radio for the designated first air band. In our country it was used mostly only as a backup radio station for short distance communication with aircraft. The radio is fitted with semiconductors outside the transmitter terminal stage, which is fitted with 3x 1P24 tubes.

Operating frequency range 100MHz - 149,975MHz adjustable by switches in 25kHz grid. Total 2000 channels. The receiver of the radio is a superhet with double mixing and its wiring is the same as the receiver type R-870M. The declared RF power of the transmitter is 500mW. The receiver and oscillator is designed exactly the same as the receiver of the R-870M.

The radio was supplied with a speaker with built-in active amplifier. The power supply voltage of the station is 11 - 13,5V and can be powered in two ways. From two 2NKN-24 batteries in a separate box. By power supply (N9 block) from 220/127V AC mains. This power supply can also be used to recharge the battery pack containing 2NKN-24 batteries.

The following accessories were supplied with the radio:
microphone with headphones,
a disc cone antenna,
a rod antenna folded in the cover panel of the controls,
a battery pack,
power supply block (N9 block),
external speaker and cables.

Diskuse

I experienced the R-809 at the Caslav airport, and it was not used as a base station, it was carried on a V3S-ce when collecting parachutes and was intended for the field to guide aircraft to targets in the front line by airline instruction.

Hey. Hey,
thanks for the clarification. I guess they were used differently according to the placement and needs of the individual folders...
