SR-132 Carpati
SR-132 Carpati
The SR-132 Carpati truck was a product of the Brasov based automobile factory with the period name Steagul Rosu (The Red Banner). The SR-132 was a variant of the SR-131 Carpati, but with a reduced payload and 4x4 powertrain.

The origins of the development of the SR-131/SR-132 date back to 1954, when the automaker began production of the SR-101, which was actually a licensed copy of the Soviet ZiS-150. As the design of the ZiS-150 was chargeable to the time of its creation and was rapidly becoming obsolete by the mid-1950s, the designers attempted to modernize the model from 1958 onwards, and in 1960 they started production of the model with a new, all-round cab and a forked 8-cylinder engine instead of an inline 6-cylinder. Both the SR-131 (a road car with a payload of 3.5 tons) and the SR-132 (an off-road car with 4x4 drive and a payload of 2 tons) were designed to be usable for the needs of the armed forces, and both versions were incorporated into the Romanian Army (SR-131 in 1962 and SR-132 in 1963). The SR-131 was also exported abroad, including Czechoslovakia.
