Saveljev Quadruplane
ыетырехплан Савельева

In 1916 Vladimir Fyodorovich Saveľjev ( Владимир Федорович Савельев[/i: aaaa ) and Vladislav Zalevsky built an experimental two-seater aircraft designed for aerial reconnaissance. They used the fuselage of the Morane G aircraft for the construction, which they equipped with bearing surfaces of their own design. It was 4 relatively slender areas, connected by a total of 4 struts - always 2 on each side. The unit was carefully reinforced with reinforcing wires. The propulsion was provided by an 80-horsepower Clerget engine, powered by a double-bladed propeller. The machine first took off into the air on April 15, 1916. According to a report by pilot Ungmejster, the aircraft was well controlled and achieved better performance than the Albatros with a 165 hp engine. Nevertheless, the pilot recommended the installation of a more powerful power unit, the engine Gnome Monosoupape of 100 hp.

After the engine was replaced and minor modifications were made, a number of test flights were carried out. In the end, the aircraft did not go into series production.

The designers were Russian Vladimir Fyodorovich Savelyev and Poliak Wladyslaw Zalewski (in transliteration into Russian Vladislav Zalevsky). During World War I, Savelyev was the technical head of the 2nd Air Park (aviapark) of the Imperial Russian Air Force in Warsaw, before 1914 he also collaborated with I.I. Sikorsky and participated in the construction of the large aircraft Russkij Viťaz.

W. Zalevski enlisted in the Russian Army and was assigned to the 2nd Air Park in Warsaw.

Machine Quadruple No.1 ( Noетырехплан No.1, later referred to as SZNo.1, Zalewski called it WZIII) was created in Smolensku, where Aviapark No. 2 retreated from Warsaw. The skeletons of the bearing surfaces and their struts were modified from the decommissioned Farman and the horizontal tail area came from Albatros B.I. The machine was completed on April 19, 1916 and on April 23, 1916, it was flown by Colonel Jungmejster.

After these tests, the machine was rebuilt. This created a fighter-observation quadruple SZNo.2 (WZIV) or Noетырехплан No.2.
