Tatra 111 (autobus)

The bus on a modified platform Tatra 111 was produced in 1953 in ČKD Tatra Smíchov, where it was subsequently used in the factory transport. Around 1960 (according to the memories of memorials it was around 1962) the bus was bought by JRD Velké Pavlovice. Three drivers drove it here: Novák, Hlávka and Melichar. The bus had an extended carrier tube of about two metres compared to the roller. By purchasing the vehicle, JZD Velké Pavlovice also received a spare carrier pipe, which, however, was not used during the entire period of the vehicle's operation. The bus had a driver's cab separated from the passenger compartment by a sliding door. It had 52 seats. With this bus, the JRD workers were transported not only to work in the fields, but also on tours throughout the then Czechoslovakia. Wherever they appeared with this bus they were the centre of attention, e.g. on a tour in Ostrava they were the target of taunts from the drivers of the then modern Skoda 706 RTO-LUX buses. The buses were parked there in a meadow that had become muddy after an unexpected rain. Instead of jeering, drivers of modern buses started to approach the driver of the "T 111 bus" asking him to pull their buses out of the muddy meadow, which was not a problem given the concept of the 6x6 drive. The bus was scrapped around 1972-1975, when it was no longer used for tours, but was used to transport the workers of the JRD to the fields. The engine from this bus was in excellent condition and therefore, according to some sources, it was used in a standard Tatra 111 truck, which was in use by JRD Velké Pavlovice. According to other sources, this engine was sold to another interested party.
