Type 97 "Ho-K"

Remarkable modification of Type 97 "Chi-ha"/Type 97 "Shinhoto Chi-Ha" (???see note under TTD).
The machine functionally resembled the German design Rammpanzer Tiger(P), but instead of creating passages in urban ruins, the Japanese counterpart was intended to create passages in the densely forested jungles of Asia.
The idea originated in 1941 in the 12th Independent Engineer Regiment (?) in Manchuria, and such machines were to be used for the intended attack on the USSR. In the visions of the Japanese, it was to create passes in the Siberian forests. The machines produced were used, for example, to build airfields in the jungles of New Guinea.
The original tank was stripped of the turret and a wedge-shaped structure was attached to the front of the hull - a sort of battering ram, with which the machine easily broke tree trunks.
