The Sioux Indian received the Medal of Honor of the US Congress

On March 3, 2008, Sgt. Woodrow Wilson Keeble became the first Sioux Indian to receive the highest U.S. military award, the Congressional Medal of Honor, for his heroism in combat during the Korean War. He did not live to see his honor, but for his tribe, it is a great award that finally appreciates the heroism and commitment of the original inhabitants of the American continent, with which he confronted aggressors around the world in the United States Army.
