Absolutely minimal information exists on the prototype armoured vehicle built on the Lorraine 72 platform, which was a licensed Czechoslovakian Tatra 72 type. An armoured body of relatively simple shape was mounted on the platform. The sides were almost perpendicular, the bodywork was made up of inclined sheet metal from the front and rear view. On the sides of the superstructure were doors, the ceiling was formed by a large two-piece hatch. The vehicle did not have a turret or any fixed armament; the crew's personal weapons were probably to be used to defend the vehicle. It bore the registration mark '89 433'.
The prototype underwent trials in Morocco in 1936. Pierre Touzin mentions the possibility of deploying the prototype in 1940. According to a newly discovered photograph of the prototype, where the vehicle bears the emblem of unit 4e bataillon de Dragons (BDP), later renamed 4e Régiment de Dragons (RDP), this claim is possible.
The Lorraine 72 was a competitive response to the Laffly S 15 R AM and Laffly S 15 TOE types, respectively.
