One of the main administrative centers of Great Moravia, together with the agglomerations in the Old Town - Uherské Hradiště and Břeclav - Pohanskem. Archaeologically examined since 1954. An important personality within the knowledge of this important site was an academician Josef Poulík, another major figure was Zdenek Klanica. A number of archaeological sesón brought a number of interesting discovery, including several churches (some questionable) with numerous burial ground, often with rich burials. In addition to the common archaeological findings of ceramics, of iron and precious metals, antler or bone, with here found a large amount of wood and other found items.
