If you arrive by ferry from Livorno to Corsica to the town of Bastia, approximately 300 metres south of the marine terminal next to the roundabout is located the tower of the submarine Casablanca. Casablanca dubbed "Le Casa" was the submarine francovského the navy pre-war class LÉspoir sometimes referred to as a class of 1,500 t, her construction in the shipyards Ateliers & Chantiers de Loire in Nantes was started in the year 1931. From December 1942 until 1944 Casablanca participated in many events to support the resistance, as in Corsica, in Provence and she's earned thanks to his evasion from the German sailors ' nickname for the Phantom. In their last mission she was able to even on the beach of Arone near the village of Piana in the north west of the island of Corsica off 100 soldiers of the special units which was a record.
