The Vilcha rocket launcher is a product of the Ukrainian arms industry based on the Soviet BM-30 (9K58 Smerch) rocket launcher. It uses 300 mm caliber missiles with end-guidance (to pre-determined target locations; some sources indicate the use of correction by GPS data, while others rule this out due to possible jamming). The standard missile has a range of 70 km (warhead weight of approx. 250 kg), a version with a range of 120 km (warhead weight of 170 kg) should also be available. Other versions of the missile with extended range are also under development. One firing vehicle has 12 missiles, a salvo of 12 missiles is fired within 48 seconds.
The prototype R624 missile was first tested in early 2016 (22.03.2016). In August of the same year andfollowed tests on the firing range using the launcher of the 9K58 Smerch complex. By the end of 2016, at least 14 successful launches of the missiles had been carried out, and in 2017 a line for their serial production was installed at Artem's production facility. At the same time, development work was underway on other elements of the system (although the missile can also be used from older Soviet rocket launchers BM-30, which are in the arsenal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces)-the launcher, fire control system, transport-loading transporter, training and measurement set, etc. Tests of the complete system have been underway since March 2018, and the prototype rocket launcher (still on the chassis of the MAZ-543) took part in a parade on the occasion of the Independence Day in August 2018. In October 2018, the system was officially inducted into the arsenal and mass production began.

An anti-aircraft cruise missile based on the Vil'cha (Alder) missile In March 2020, the Kiev-based company Luch (Державне Київське конструкторське бюро "Луч", ДП ДержККБ Луч) presented a project for a new anti-aircraft missile system with a range of up to 100 km. The basis of this system will be a missile used in 300mm rocket launchers, which will be modified to destroy air targets up to 30 km altitude. It is expected to destroy conventional air targets, including those that are currently only capable of being destroyed by the S-300V1 air defence missiles from the Kiev Vizar factory (Derzhavne підприємство - Жулянський машинобудівний завод "Візар", ДП ЖМЗ Візар). The air defense missile guidance system was derived from the upgraded Angolan S-125 missiles. It is expected that the air defense missiles will be equipped with warheads of the private Ukrainian company Radionix (ТОВ Радіонікс) with semi-active or active guidance. The anti-aircraft missiles are expected to be capable of destroying targets with high manoeuvrability. Note: The official name of the project and its stage of development are not known. The company Luch refers to the project as the SD-300. Source: http://www.luch.kiev.ua/ukr/ https://www.radionix.com.ua/ defence-ua.com www.ukrmilitary.com
