Vladimir Boldyrev was born in a peasant settlement of the Krasnoyarsk-Urjupinsky district falling under the Volgograd region.


He is a graduate of the Moscow Higher All-Military Command School of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR (Moscow Higher All-Military Command School of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR), Frunze Military Academy (Frunze Military Academy) and the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation).


He served in the Soviet and later the Russian army as a platoon, company and battalion commander in the Belarusian Military District and the Central Group of Troops. Later he served as regimental chief of staff, regimental commander and division commander in the Zabaikalsky Military District. Subsequently, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Army and Commander of the Army.


In September 1996, he was appointed First Deputy Commander of the Zabaikal Military District. Since April 1998, in addition to this post, he has also served as Chief of Staff. On December 1, 1998 he is transferred to the Siberian Military District where he performs the same function - i.e. the first deputy commander of the district.


Since May 2001 he has been the commander of the Siberian Military District, since 19 May 2001 he has been the commander of the Siberian Military District, since 19 May 2001 he has been the commander of the Siberian Military District. On July 19, 2004, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Povolzhsky-Uralsky Military District.


In August 2008, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation. On 01.01.2010 he requested to be released to the reserve.


He is a recipient of the Medal of Military Merit (For Military Merit) and thirteen medals.
