Battle of Falkirk, 22 July 1298

TheΒ Battle of FalkirkΒ (BlΓ r na h-Eaglaise BriceΒ inΒ Gaelic), which took place on 22 July 1298, was one of the major battles in theΒ First War of Scottish Independence. Led byΒ King Edward I of England, the English army defeated theΒ Scots, led byΒ William Wallace. Shortly after the battle Wallace resigned asΒ Guardian of Scotland.
