Poznámka:
Note:
Jermolajev Jer-2 byl střední bombardér dlouhého doletu. The Yermolayev Yer-2 was a long-range Soviet medium bomber.
A five Yer-2 was modified with experimental Mikulin AM-37 engines, a reinforced undercarriage, armored seats for the navigator and gunner, and 0.5in UBT machine-guns in place of its original ShKAS weapons. The range was reduced to 2,175 mi carrying 2,205 lb of bombs.
One significant problem with this version was the excessive take-off roll which hindered operations from grass airstrips, it was caused propellers of small diameter.
The engine had big problems with ineffective cooling.

Brief history:[/heading]
The soviet air force took over in 1939, long-range bombers DB-240 with reservations to his performance, which is why designer Vladimir Grigorjevič Jermolajev together with his OKB-240 tried to increase the performances of this machine. It was obvious to everybody that the engines the Klimov M-105 will have to be swapped for more powerful types, the easiest would be to install the Klimovův M-106 but one was not available. OKB-240 has received the instruction to install the DB-240 engines from the designer And. And. Mikulina and it types AM-35A and AM-37.
They were first started work on mounting the engine AM-35A engine had about 230 kg higher weight than the Klimov M-105, provided however, the performance of 1 350 to. The work on this plane, however, held back and so was earlier completed the development of engines AM-37 (1 400). These engines were installed in the second prototype of the DB-240. Unfortunately, not everything succeeded, the biggest problem was the cooling, the designers have kept the original cooling circuits completely intact, and it was for a engine with an output of about 1/3 of the higher very little. Already at the first flight 25. October 1940 with both engines sharply and dangerously overheated and all of the other test flights were, to put it with hyperbole, shorter or longer jumps (depend on air temperature), the economies were overheating with a cooling liquid and engine oil. Nemenším problem was the use of propeller you KNOW-22E with a diameter of 3 000 mm, the propeller just couldn't put the power of the new engine, the takeoff was too long and the performances overall were below the expected values.

The designers have again got to work and made a number of changes. The main modifications concerned the course of cooling the engine, into the rear parts of the engine nacelles have been installed a pair of the coolers the OP-275, the engines, although further work on the border of overheating, but in the summer of 1941 may have already been launched flight tests. Another modification was the installation of a propeller, you KNOW-22T with a diameter of 3 to 400 mm, of the propeller of larger diameter can no longer be mounted, because between the fuselage and motor nacelles was no more room. Performance slightly increased, speed increased by 14 km/h, substantially increased service ceiling and rate of climb. Other modifications concerned the installation of larger bogie wheels, improved armour and unification of defence equipment to half-inch scale machine gun UBT.

Engines Mikulin AM-37, however, were žíznivější and noticeably decreased the range of the aeroplane, but at economic speed brought the bomb load of a weight of 1 000 kg to a distance of 3 000 km.
The question remains, how many aircraft were on the standard adapted, the data differ, what is certain is that it wasn't more than five aircraft. One time it was considered about their introduction into production, because the performances were better than in Il-4, it was finally decided that prefer to have warplanes Il-2.
