Lieutenant Hayashi Yoshishige

was born in Kamakura on July 17, 1920. He graduated from the Naval Academy. In April 1944 he took command of 407. Hikotai armed with Zeros on which he achieved five aerial victories as part of the 221st Kokutai in combat over the Philippines. After the fighting in the Philippines, his squadron was withdrawn and, after rearmament to the N1K2-J Shiden-kai, was incorporated into the elite 343. Kokutai.

Dropped on April 21, 1945 in combat with a nineteen-man formation of B-29 from 313. Bomber Wing.
