Airport in Gilin was built in the location Brezový majer near the path Celulózka – Rosina in 1935. Today sa's nachádza part sídliska Vlčince III. Predtým sa here nachádzalo military cvičisko. Pri otvorení airport airmen in cooperation with the Masaryk air league usporiadali air day, ever explored Žilinčania prvýkrát saw acrobatic kúsky lietadiel. Airport sa used also for training letcov and športové motor years ago. In rokoch 1943 - 1945 it was occupied by the German air force. After 1945 he took over as ceo from the army of the Slovak aeroclub in Gilin. Right after 2. svetovej vojne introduced aj pravidelnú leteckú line Žilina – Prague and späť. The linke premávalo airplane Siebel C-3 pre 10 - 12 cestujúcich.
