General of Infantry Rudolf Toussaint
Plenipotentiary of the German Armed Forces at the Office of the Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia
( Wehrmachtsbevollmächtigte beiim Reichsprotektor in Böhmen und Mähren)

b.: 2.5.1891, Egglkofen.
died: August 1968, München

A graduate painter Rudolf Toussaint joins the German Imperial and Royal Army on September 21, 1911 in the rank of Fahnenjunker. After completing basic training, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on October 25, 1913 and assigned to the 18th (Bayr.) Infantry Regiment. I lack more information about the period 1914-1935. On 1.12.1935 he was promoted to the rank of Oberstleutnant.

From April 1, 1939 until 1941, he was a military attaché at the German Embassy in Rome, when he was promoted to the rank of Oberst on April 1, 1938. After completing his service in the diplomatic service, he was promoted to the rank of Generalmajor on October 1, 1941, and in the same month he entered service in the OKH (Oberkommando der Wehrmacht).

On October 1, 1942, another promotion will follow - to the rank of Generalleutnant. In September/September 1943 he was newly promoted General der Infanterie (from 1.9.1943) appointed Plenipotentiary General of the German Armed Forces in Italy ( Bevollmächtigter General der deutschen Wehrmacht in Italy). He performs this function until July 26, 1944, when he is replaced by SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS Karl-Heinz Wolff while he is appointed Plenipotentiary of the German Armed Forces at the Office of the Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia ( Wehrmachtsbevollmächtigte beim Reichsprotektor in Böhmen und Mähren 378f6cae41]), in which he replaced Ferdinand Schaal. Until 1943, the territory of the Protectorate is not a defense district ( Wehrkreis) and therefore there is no Wehrmacht commander in the Protectorate. In 1945, however, the position of Plenipotentiary of the German Armed Forces at the Office of the Reich Protector was associated with the position of Wehrmacht Commander in the Protectorate, and this is held by Rudolf Toussaint. After the end of the war, he was captured by American troops in Pilsen/May 1945 and handed over to the Czechoslovak authorities on April 19, 1947. On October 26, 1948, he was sentenced to life in prison by an extraordinary people's court in Prague.

In 1955, he allegedly signed a cooperation agreement with ŠTB, which intends to use him as its agent in West Germany, but the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia until 1961 refused to give its consent to his release. Until then, he provides his prisoners with at least information about leading West German military and political figures, whom he knew from the war, for which he receives relief, resp. benefits during the execution of the sentence. He was only released from prison in 1961 in exchange for two communist agents. No information is known as to whether ŠTB actually provided any information after its release and departure to the GDR. However, as early as 1964, he was to be listed in the ŠTB lists as an informant.

Prý spolu hráli šachy a vynášeli latríny. Toussaint Kutlvašra respektoval a uznával.
