City walls
From a large part of the preserved fortification of the city (albeit often only in reliktech), were established already with the emergence of the royal city, which was founded by the Czech king Václav II. the year 1295. The fortifications received a square plan. Of the four gates or goals are preserved to this day two, and the main Top (Pilsner) and Lower (Prague) (see posts above), on the one gateway, or perhaps rather, the goal was towards the today's railway station, next, north Son of the wicket, then served probably mainly to put out the pigs to pasture. The whole fortification was reinforced about 40 věžicemi, which předstupovaly before the 7 to 9 meter high fortification wall. Topped off was a wooden gallery. It was further fortification accompanied by a parkánovou wall and earth mound. Yet it was town 1. April 1421 conquered by the hussites, who damaged the Prague gate. Necessary repairs and upgrading took place especially in the 15. and 16. century. To this day the preserved sections are free accessible.
