st. Vitus

Church consecration of st. Vitus cathedral is located under the castle in the historic center of the village. This is a single-nave construction. During its existence has undergone several reconstructions. It is not known when he created the original oldest gothic church. The exact age can't be, no archaeological research to determine. But most likely, the oldest part of the should be the western half of the church. He knows that by the year 1380 he was filial to the Lower Town and then, from this year, he was filial to the chapel at the castle. Sometimes in the year 1500, the church was substantially rebuilt, was built around the same wide elongated polygonal presbytery with a rectangular sacristy on the north side and if in the meantime has not yet been vaulted, so that was done. Probably at this time was built šnekovité the stairs to the attic and on the kruchtu on the west end of the north side of the ship. The choir loft was interested in the western part of the ship and was supported by two pillars, which are today in front of the church, to the left of the entrance hall on the south side of the ship (Kuća 1998, 491). So as the city, even the church has certainly not spared the events of the Thirty years ' war, particularly the battle for the castle and the town when it was ransacked. In the subsequent repairs, the church was barokizován, especially the western gable. Sometime around the year 1688 was a vaguely polygonal closed the chapel of the Virgin Mary, in the north wall of the ship. This chapel probably served as burial of the genus Vernierů. Since the church never had a more pronounced tower, even today, has more of a "runt" tiny turret, gave Vernierové in the repair of the castle the fight certainly damaged the tower of the outer fortification significantly rebuilt in the baroque bell tower. While the space between them is now filled with normal buildings and roads. At the same time she was also completely remodeled the choir loft, so that the old one was dismantled and built a new music, which there is so far. You need to mention the change of the parish system, when the 1620 was cancelled lipnicka parish and the church přináležel the vicarage when in světlá nad Sázavou, to the year 1694 returned to the parish on the Lipnice (Kuća 1998, 491). In 1. the mid-19th. century lived to see the church of the new vaulting, but already in 1869, together with the castle burned down. Fixed was the year 1914 and is further used (Kuća 1998, 491).

City walls

The fortifications of the city is closely connected with the fortifications of the castle. And so, that it is in some way directly napojovalo. Certainly the fortifications could arise after the year 1370 got Lipnice municipal rights. But the question is, whether brief or with some larger interval of time, even several decades. However, with regard to that for several years was the owner of the lipnického the estate directly to the king of bohemia Charles IV., but I'd rather the opinion, that it was not long after the city made the law. The year 1452 is reported as the "town of the castle přihrazené" and the year 1459 is then referred to as the Paid Lipnice (Kuća 1998, 490). Should be noted in 15. century emerging White tower, which further complemented the defense of the castle and the city. The actual fortification today, virtually dochováno there is, the only visible fragment is one of two city gates. However, it is quite likely that underground or perhaps even in the walls of some houses, there are other residues, just have not yet been found. While still in the wars in the 15. the century between Matthias of Corvinus and the bohemian king George of Poděbrady, the castle and the town settled down most likely without significant cuts and then further flourish, the later thirty years war are particularly into the history of the city enrolled more than negatively. The very inner area consisted of about 37 houses, is the question of how much the home was located outside the city walls, as it is undisputed that there had to become a building whose inhabitants made their living, especially agriculture. Besides, does the fortified town was in this direction bounded by its capabilities. The year 1637 he gave Matthew Vernier a certain relief, burghers, which, however, merged with it, that will repair the city walls. However, as early as the year 1639, they took the town and castle to conquer the Swedes on the strength of the 16 sections. You plundered the city and pobořili walls, but the castle they failed to conquer. However not long into it, of the year 1645 the castle and the city the Swedes without any problem occupied. From here then head out to the nearby and distant surroundings to pillage and loot, so early as the year 1646 he gave the castle and town to conquer the imperial troops. After four weeks of fighting dragged because castle failed to conquer, however, occupied the White tower and the city, but rather their ruins. Eventually the Swedes before his departure pobořili how the White tower as the city walls (Kuća 1998, 490, 491). However, even in 1896 there was the gate of the Lower, from which have been preserved only remnants. In contrast, the gate Top, was at that time just místopisným name (Kuća 1998, 491), though certainly it is possible that its fragments can hide beneath the surface of today's field. The city wall we have several references in the scientific literature. For example, in the publication of the castle from the pen of Stanislav Stuny we have mention of the remains of a large fortification walls of the city. Specifically, in the rectory garden shows the remains of the city walls and ditches, next to the vicarage then the remains of the old gate (Stuna 1925, 24). Other traceable remains of the fortifications of the city it is reported at the inn for john smith and also "elsewhere" (Stuna 1925, 18). Jerome the salt merchant said he visited the city and the castle a few decades earlier that in his article in the PA 5 describes, inter alia, the status of the city's fortifications, as he saw it sometime before the year 1863. The walls of the city described as almost already disappeared, the gateway only registers two, upper and lower. At that time, is already after the top gate had only the street name "at the top of the gate", that leads the way to Havlíčkův Brod. The lower gate at that time still registered in the foundation in the "lower street", in the parsonage on the square. The inner gate was the gate, the outside and then zatarasovat in the event of a threat fošnami (the salt merchant said 1863, 80).
