City walls
The city fortifications began to build 1389 at the instigation of bishop Nicholas of the giant castle. In the present day has been preserved, only fragments of the city walls. From the 4 gates of the city have not survived the only. It is not known whether the town was fortified by earlier some lighter form of fortification - e.g. palisade. The city gates were 4 or rather 3, namely: Silesian, which was located in the northeast and has led from her trip to the bridge over the Lubinu, this is then continued towards the Hukvaldy and Místek, Wallachian situated in the southwest of the city and Olomouc, which was located in the western part of the city in the area of today's Jicin street, here led the way to a New Jičínu, in the fourth case, it was a fortnu. It seems that in the middle ages, probably to combat the use of walls as not. During the thirty years ' war and then the townspeople in 1626 the city was not defended, but as the crew of the castle Hukvaldy fought against the Danes. On the contrary, against the Swedes in 1643 defend (win the rather about, however, stratagems, than by a stubborn defense of the city walls). After the thirty years ' war, the fortifications decayed and later it was either dismantled, or became components of the masonry town houses.
