Already in the early days of production Sd.Kfz.250 and Sd.Kfz.251 and their unarmoured platforms Sd.Kfz.10 and Sd.kfz.11[url=/topic/view/123845]Demag was launched to develop successors to these tractors and armoured vehicles under the designation HK 6. A pair of cooperating companies, Hanomag and Demag, took part in the development. The firms used a number of identical components in their designs, so as to achieve parts unification in the eventual mass production. However, the development of the HK 6 series was cancelled in late 1942 and none of the types developed were mass-produced. By the end of 1941, interest was concentrated on the Kätzchen tracked armoured personnel carrier programme.
