P-51B - Packard Merlin engine, two machine guns in each wing; 1988 pcs
P-51C - similar to P-51B from the race in Grand Prairie near Dallas, 1750 pcs
P-51D - variant with a lowered fuselage and a drop cabin, added two machine guns; 8102 pcs
TP-51D - about 20 machines adapted for two-seat training
