The work "Arctic Conflict Potential: The Position and Interests of Canada" deals with the current development of the situation in the Arctic at the level of international relations. The work is a response to ongoing climate change, a melting glacier, the presence of mineral wealth and growing tensions in the region. The aim of the work is to present the Arctic region and the actors involved in it, to evaluate the possibility of an outbreak of armed conflict and to approach the position of Canada in the Arctic. The author performs his analysis on the basis of primary sources and articles in professional periodicals. The work states the existence of conflict between the Arctic states. But he considers the risk of an outbreak of armed conflict to be small as long as the states concerned continue to respect the existing legal framework. The geopolitical importance of the Arctic will grow in the future.
