Heinrich Kostrba

Czech military pilot who was the first member of the Austro-Hungarian Air Force to achieve three aerial victories in a single day, namely on 18 February 1916, while the same score was achieved on 29 June 1916. After the end of World War I, he supported the establishment of an independent Czechoslovakia and was appointed the first commander of the Czechoslovak Air Force. Jindřich Kostrba was killed on 24 September 1926 in a mid-air collision between two aircraft.

Josef Novák

Fighter pilot of the Austro-Hungarian Luftfahrtruppen, who participated in the First World War. Josef Novák achieved a total of three confirmed victories during World War II. After the war, he joined the Czechoslovak Air Force, worked briefly in the first Czech airline, Ikarus, and subsequently became a well-known factory chief pilot of the Aero factory. In this role, he undertook more than 3,600 flights, flew 30 new types of aircraft, won a number of air races and achieved nine air records. He also actively participated in organizational and federal activities related to aviation. Josef Novák died in 1934 as a result of serious injuries sustained in a plane crash in 1930.

K. u. K Seeflugwesen / K. u. K. Seefliegerkorps

Benno Fiala Ritter von Fernbrugg was an Austro-Hungarian fighter ace with 28 victories to his credit during World War I. He was the third ranking ace of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He was also a technical innovator who pioneered the use of machine guns, radios, and cameras in airplanes. His forty-year aviation career also included aircraft manufacture, airport management, and the establishment of commercial airlines.

Oberleutnant Stefan Stec

Stefan Stanisław Stec was a Polish aviator and military pilot, one of the pioneers of Polish aviation. He is also credited as the originator of the Polish Air Force checkerboard.
From 1916 he initially served as an observer in the Flik 3 reconnaissance squadron on the eastern front. In February 1918 he trained as a pilot and from May he was assigned to the Flik 3J fighter squadron, flying the Oeffag D.III on the Austro-Italian front. Between June 17 and July 4 he commanded Flik 9J. He participated in shooting down 3 aircraft (plus 4 probable kills) and ended the war as an Oberleutnant.

Rudolf Szepessy-Sokoll Freiherr von Negyes et Reno

Hungarian World War I flying ace credited with five aerial victories. He began his military career as a cavalryman as the war began in 1914. After winning the Silver Medal for Bravery and being promoted into the officers' ranks, he transferred to the Austro-Hungarian Aviation Troops in mid-1915 as an aerial observer. On 14 February 1916, while participating in a historic strategic bombing raid on Milan, he scored his first aerial victory. After shooting down another airplane and an observation balloon, Szepessy-Sokoll was transferred to a fighter unit after pilot training. After shooting down a pair of Macchi L.3s on 5 November 1917, he was killed in action the next day.
