Egyptian malaria epidemic in faleristics

Egypt was threatened by two invasions in early 1942. One in the north across the Libyan Desert and the other in the south from Wadi Haifa. The first attacker was repulsed and completely defeated at El Alamejn. The second, Anopheles Gambiae, was stopped in Asyut and eradicated by February 19, 1945.

Rikugun Bukosho

This is one of the rarest Japanese decorations. It was founded at the end of the war. By granting it, the Japanese government wanted to raise the morale of Japanese soldiers, which was due to continuous defeats, supply difficulties and other causes of the lost war at a low level.

S/Leader A. S. K. Scarf and his Victoria Cross

Squadron Leader Arthur Stewart King Scarf, VC was a Royal Air Force pilot and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Turkish War Medal

The correct name in Turkish is Harp Madalyası, in Czech Válečná medaile. It could be awarded to members of the army, navy, paramedics, and even foreigners for bravery and war service.

War dog Rob and his decorations

Rob was a Collie dog who in February 1945 was awarded the Dickin Medal, considered to be the animals' Victoria Cross. He was alleged to have made over 20 parachute descents during the North African Campaign, serving with the SAS. However, in 2006, his actions were revealed as being a possible hoax perpetrated by members of his regiment in order to prevent Rob leaving after his original owners requested his return.
