PT-1A
The project of the floating tracked tank PT-1A, as a successor to the unsuccessful PT-1, was developed in 1933 by the technical department of the OGPU in Moscow under the leadership of N.A.Astrov. Drawing documentation for the production of prototypes was handed over to two companies - Srp a hammer in Moscow and the S.M. Kirov Test Plant in Leningrad. In October 1934, the Leningrad prototype passed factory tests, tests on the NIBT polygon and was handed over with drawing documentation to the CHPZ to prepare for serial production. But this has not already taken place.
Compared to its predecessor, the PT-1A had slightly reinforced armor (up to 15 mm), for which it paid a small reserve of buoyancy. In addition to the 45 mm cannon with a supply of 96 rounds, he had two 7.62 mm machine guns, one in the turret and one in the front armor of the hull. The crew was four and could communicate with the environment using a 71-KT-1 transmitter with a frame antenna. The modified aircraft engine M-17 allowed with a supply of 414 liters of fuel to reach the road 215 km. Belt-wheel conversion and vice versa took up to 30 minutes.
One propeller placed in the tunnel served as a propulsion during the voyage, the rudder suspended behind it was used to drive it. The electrical system operated with a voltage of 12V, the 128Ah battery was charged by a 0.5 kW generator.
