Steyr RSO in the Slovak Army (1939-1945)
After unsatisfactory delivery of Praga T-6 SS tractors from BMM, the Slovak military authorities decided to order the necessary gun tractors from Steyr-Daimler-Puch. The order was for 80 Steyr RSO/01 tractors. They were probably delivered at the beginning of 1944. They were given the registration numbers V-13.711 - V-13.790. After a temporary takeover by the SAP, the tractors were assigned to Artillery Regiment 11 in Žilina. The Assault Carriage Regiment acutely required the allocation of 15 pieces of this tractor (V-13.754 to V-13.757, V-13.763, V-13.769 to V-13.773, V-13.777, V-13.779, V-13.781, V-13.784 and V-13.785). They were assigned to him on 12.3.1944 and immediately on 14.3.1944 took part in a military parade in Turčianske Sväté Martin. On 13.4.1944, the PÚV requested another 25 RSO tractors, which the unit received shortly afterwards. Thus, as of 29.4.1944, the PÚV had a total of 40 RSO tractors. Six tractors were already in need of repairs early in 4/1944. Instead of the broken tractors, functional ones were delivered, and the repair permit was issued on 8/5/1944. The repair was to be provided by the Auto-Moto-Velo company Emanuel Kocián. PÚV assigned a total of 28 tractors to two companies of KPÚV (mot) 2 and 3, which were part of a field unit stationed in eastern Slovakia. The tractors that broke down in these units were replaced by working ones. Thus, 12 tractors remained in the PÚV replacement battalion, but only two of them were functional. Prolonged repairs forced the allocation of 10 more tractors from Artillery Regiment 11. They arrived in Turčianske Sväté Martin on 22 August 1944 and were sent to the field units. The company Auto-Moto-Velo Emanuel Kocián received another order for repair of four tractors on 30.8.1944.
The field companies of the KPÚV (mot) probably had a total of 38 RSO tractors by the end of 6/1944. Probably all of them were destroyed or captured during the German disarmament of these units.
After the outbreak of the Uprising on 29/8/1944, the insurgents acquired an unspecified number of these caterpillar tractors. Mostly they served for hauling guns and towing armored vehicles. One tractor is known to have been used in the evacuation of equipment from the PUV barracks, when the tractor moved equipment from the Martin barracks to the railway station after 12.9.1944. Tractor no. V-13.738 was destroyed during the retreat in the vicinity of the village Priekopa about 9.9.1944. Probably all rebel RSOs were gradually destroyed or looted during the fighting.

Steyr RSO in the Bulgarian Army
As part of the military supply plan from Germany, 40 Steyr RSO/01 artillery tractors were delivered on February 28, 1943. The original plans included the delivery of up to 120 tractors, but after the first delivery, further deliveries were canceled. The tractors were primarily assigned by a motorized artillery regiment to the tow of 10.5 cm light howitzers. The armored brigade tested the towing of a 7.5 cm anti-tank cannon PaK 40 but it was found that the tractors are slow and unsuitable for this purpose.
