Potez 63-11 in the service of the Luftwaffe

After the defeat of France, the Germans captured a large amount of aircraft material. Around 80 Potez 63-11 A3s fell into their hands, most of them at the Méaulte factory. Here, in 1942, the Germans ordered production to resume and ordered 120 new machines, but whether any were completed is uncertain, probably a few aircraft were assembled from parts stored in warehouses. After the occupation of the rest of France in November 1942, a further 134 aircraft were captured. However, some of these were sold off to Romania, Italy and Hungary.

The Luftwaffe used its Potez 63-11s mainly for training, or as staff and liaison aircraft.

Potez 63-11 in Italy

There is not much information about the service of French aircraft in Italy and this also applies to Potez 63-11. The first pieces fell to the Italians after the French surrender in June 1940, others were apparently delivered by the Germans, and the last pieces were captured by the Italians after the occupation of the rest of France in November 1942. Apparently, 46 machines were put into service.
The Italians first used aircraft for training, because at the beginning of the war they suffered from a lack of modern machines of all categories. However, after the defeat of the Axis forces in Africa and heavy losses, some machines were also used by combat units and used to patrol the French coast. In 1943, at least 15 pieces were flown directly to Italy, but were probably not deployed in combat.
The effect of the type in the ranks of Regia Aeronautica is thus only an episode.
