In 1935, the German anti-Nazi writer Carl von Ossietzky received the Nobel Peace Prize. Based on this, Hitler banned the Germans from accepting the Nobel Prizes and, as a substitute, established the German National Prize for Art and Science. The artist was Müller-Erfurt. The star is made of platinum studded with 40 diamonds, a medallion of gold. The needle is marked Juwelier Hülse Berlin W. 8. The prize was accompanied by a financial reward of RM 100,000. It was awarded to only nine people.

1937 - granted September 7, 1937

- Architect Paul Ludwig Troost (posthumously)
- Imperial Leader Alfred Rosenberg
- researcher Wilhelm Filchner
- doctors August Bier and Ferdinand Sauerbruch (joint price)

1938 - granted 6.9.1938

- General Inspector of German Roads and Chief Organisation Todt Fritz Todt
- Car constructor Ferdinand Porsche
- Aircraft constructors Willy Messerschmitt and Ernst Heinkel (joint price)

The illustrated specimen was awarded to dr. August Bier.
