For the needs of fire support of the platoon of armored personnel carriers Sd.Kfz.251 a version of the armored personnel carrier equipped with an anti-tank cannon Pa.K. 36/37 caliber 37 mm. It was a vehicle designed for a platoon commander, who had to support a more powerful weapon to support standard armored platoon vehicles. The cannon with the protective shield was located on the site of the front machine gun. In the Ausf.A/B versions, it was often mounted with the original cannon shield as in the towed version. For Ausf.C/D versions, this shield has stopped being fitted due to an excessive increase in vehicle silhouette. The cannon was either without a shield, or with a specially created lowered shield, which protected only the left side of the cannon. An anti-tank rifle Pz.B. 39 caliber 7.92 mm. The latest production records for this version are dated 10/1943. In 1944, it was replaced by the version Sd.Kfz.251 / 17 Ausf.B. According to K.St.N.1114c dated 1.4.1943, Sd.Kfz.251/10 had each of the three platoon commanders in Panzer-Grenadier-Company c. After being replaced by vehicles Sd.Kfz .251/17 Ausf.B were Sd.kfz.251/10 assigned to the commander of various engineering units (K.St.N.1118, 1124a and 703a dated from 1.3.1943 to 1.4.1944.
