Unit of commandos as such represented a non-standard element in the structure of the british army, which entailed the necessity of improvisation in the difficult war times. These formations become established and become a full part of the army, respectively, of the marine corps. Even among these sections but there was one more non-standard unit. 10. section commandos (mezispojenecký) was composed of british volunteers, but from the members of the armies of the occupied states. And to make matters a little, consisted of his 3. a platoon of soldiers from the German and austrian nationality. And not only her, in this platoon fought the Czechoslovaks. Even if not under their own names. And that brings us to the other attractions. But that comes later.
Command section 26. June 1942 instructed the Western command lieutenant colonel Dudley Lister, formerly the commander of the 4. section, the establishment of the 10. section. Consist had at the beginning of the headquarters and four platoons, the later should be the number of platoons extended to eight. The headquarters section consisted primarily of british officers and noncommissioned officers. It was the commander, his deputy, the adjutant, intelligence officer and petty officer, medical officer and orderly, the coupling of the officer and his squad, training officer, quartermaster, administrative officer, drivers and officers ' servants.
1. (French) platoon In the british port of Portsmouth was docked battleship L'Amiral Courbet, and one of the officers, who served as lieutenant Philippe Kieffer. It managed to convince their superiors, and then brigadier general Haydona about the possibility of the establishment of the French commandos. With the idea agreed and admiral Mountbatten, but modified it so that it should rise to a rational section.
Kieffer was promoted to lieutenant and received the permission for the establishment of the unit. He managed to put together 40 men, and in June 1942 so created 1. rota naval fyzilírů. It was initially affiliated to 2. section commandos, where it went through the initial stages of training. 14. July the company took part in the solemn parade on the anniversary of the fall of the Bastille, and then moved to Cricciethu, now already as 1. (French) platoon 10. section commandos.
2. (Dutch) squad Although this was a platoon in the name of the two, arrived to the section as the first and 29. June 1942. Consisted of 40 men and two officers from the brigade group free the Dutch "princess Irene". The first commander was captain Mulders.
