In 1943 Yanagida in charge 33. divízii, zaradenej under the 15. army here in Burme. In this period Yanagida doesn't have uh, priam of the combat skúsenosti.

Divízia under his command sa 7.3.1944 begins úćastniť offensive U-Go and progresses smerom to Imphal. 29.3.1944 divízia suffer ťažké straty and odporúča spomaliť procedure, what makes anger his nadriadených.

Mutaguchi, veliteľ 15. army accused him of zo cowardice and want him postaviť before a military court. This sa however, he couldn't, however, prinútil Yanagidu odísť retired 9.5.1944. Mutaguchi referred to Yanagidu ako zbabelého bastard and Yanagida his on the contrary, mal is an idiot.

Yanagida is neskôr again called into service and is in charge posádke in Port Arthur and on this mieste falling into Russian zajatia, during the Russian Manchurskej offensive. Umiera in zajateckom camp in soviet russia and into Japan sa never came back.

Yanagida bol opisovaný ako shiny štábny dôstojník without martial skúseností. Yanagidu strongly personally zasiahli ťažké straty army that his unit have suffered poćas offensive U-Go.
