He graduates from the Imperial Military Academy in 1898 and subsequently fights in the Russo-Japanese War.


After the war, he begins his studies at the Military Staff College, graduating in 1909.

He subsequently serves as Chief of Staff of the 6th Division. He then commands the 62nd Infantry Regiment and is subsequently posted to Europe for 6 months. During the Siberian Intervention in 1920 he is a member of the 27th Infantry Regiment. During this conflict he is assigned to the Independent Tamon Task Force Command, ("Tamon Task Force″) which is involved in the fighting at Nikolayevsk.

In later years, he serves with the Sakhalin Expeditionary Force staff. From 1921 to 1922 he commands the 2nd Infantry Regiment, and then he is chief of staff of the 4th Division until 1924, when he is given command of the 6th Infantry Brigade.


1925 - 1927 Tamon is Chief of the 4th General Staff Office and in the following period returns to the Army War College, as Director and from 1929 as Commander.
He becomes a lieutenant general in 8 July 1929 and commands the 2nd Division from 1930 to 1933. In 1931 in Manchuria he leads the Jiangqiao Campaign, Operation Chinchow and the defense of Harbin.


In 1933 he retires to the reserve.
