The second civilian demonstrator, built by the autumn of 1930, together with the XF8C-7, was a similar machine, which used the same engine and some modifications to improve aerodynamics, but he was fully armed after the fashion of the previous Helldiverů - therefore also got the corporate designation of the Cyclone Military Helldiver. The biggest difference represented the open back cab and the back, again low as in the previous Helldiverů, and also the grappling hook under the stern. First received as a Helldiver And a-3 civil registration 983V, in November was but together with the first machine purchased by the navy and received the designation XF8C-8, BuNo A8847. Ordered were also two other identical machines, with the designation O2C-2 and downstream of accountancy numbers. These were after delivery also temporarily renamed the XF8C-8. A8847 was navy returned to the factory for further tests, but after the accident it was significantly rebuilt and renamed the XS3C-1. The second machine was used as a command machine on some of the aircraft carriers, the third was returned in June 1933 to the factory as a test machine for a new the 585kW engine Wright R-1510, but already the following month began the in-flight fire and was destroyed. Performances Helldiverů with the engine Cyclone were significantly better than the standard machines, but at the same time already came into the world a significantly more modern design, as of the Grumman FF-1, and other machines have therefore not been ordered..
